Seamless Gutter Installation

Seamless gutters are formed from a coil of metal on a machine the installer brings to your driveway. Each run is cut to the exact length of your roof edge, so the only joints are at the corners and downspouts. Fewer seams means fewer places to leak, and it is the reason seamless aluminum is the most common choice for new gutters on American homes today.

5-inch or 6-inch?

Most homes built in the last decades have 5-inch K-style gutters. Six-inch gutters carry up to about 40 percent more water and pair with larger 3x4-inch downspouts. They are worth it on large or steep roofs, on long runs, in regions with intense downpours, and under roof valleys where water concentrates. The upgrade typically adds only a few dollars per foot.

How installation works

• The installer measures every roof edge, counts corners and plans downspout locations
• Old gutters are removed and the fascia boards are checked for rot
• Gutters are formed on site, cut to length and hung with hidden hangers, usually every 2 feet or closer
• Each run is pitched toward the downspouts so water does not sit in the trough
• Downspouts and extensions are added to move water away from the foundation

A typical single-story home is often finished in a day. Ask about gutter guards at the same time – adding them during installation is simpler than coming back later.
